Educator FAQs

How can early education programs or family child care homes prepare to participate in Thrive By 5 Louisville?

Programs must be regulated by Kentucky’s Division of Child Care. To get ready, providers should connect with local experts who offer free, personalized coaching through the KY All STARS quality rating system.

  • Child care centers: Email Hans.Petersen@uky.edu  at the Jefferson Office of Child Care Aware of Kentucky to find your Quality Coach.
  • Family child care homes: Contact your 4-C Family Child Care Network Specialist at fccn@4cforkids.com.

How does Thrive By 5 Louisville support providers with ongoing quality improvement?

We encourage programs to partner with trusted local organizations that provide no-cost training and technical assistance. Participation in KY All STARS is key to enhancing program quality.

How can owners, directors, and educators support Thrive By 5 Louisville’s work?

One key way is through our Advisory Council, a diverse group of 30+ community members appointed by the Thrive By 5 Louisville Board. Members contribute ideas, feedback, and solutions on topics like workforce, facilities, access, and family engagement.

We aim to include underrepresented voices. To make participation more accessible, stipends are available for qualified members—recognizing the value of your time and experience.

Is Bezos Academy part of Thrive By 5 Louisville?

No, Bezos Academy is not affiliated with Thrive By 5 Louisville. However, it is one of several initiatives in Louisville aimed at expanding access to quality early learning. Bezos Academy offers free, full-day, year-round, Montessori-inspired preschool for children ages 3–5. Families earning less than 400% of the Federal Poverty Level (around $124,800 for a family of four) are eligible. Admission is lottery-based.
